Curriculum and Instruction

Teachers work on instructional teams, which are comprised of mathematics, language arts, science/health, social studies and elective instructors. Teams deliver curriculum that is aligned with the Maryland State Department of Education and Baltimore City Public School System content standards through block scheduling. The program also features an intense counseling component, which incorporates decision-making, character education, and stress management.

There are four instructional teams and each team has a crisis counselor assigned for the purpose of planning holistically. Teachers meet three days a week to discuss the integration of curriculum, to plan interdisciplinary units, to review student progress, develop interactive home assignments, and to meet with parents and other support personnel, as well as, with students about their achievement. Discussions concerning the enhancement of student achievement, student attendance and behavioral adjustment are also held during team planning time.
